Every market on Outcome resolves at a time defined by the market’s spec. This page explains how resolution is determined and what happens to your positions when it is.

Two resolution paths

How a market resolves depends on what it’s about. Price-based markets (like the BTC daily binary or BTC price range markets) settle automatically against HyperCore mark prices. When the market reaches its settlement timestamp, the protocol reads the mark price at that moment and determines the outcome. There’s no manual step: resolution is purely a function of the market spec and the price data. For these markets, the settlement price is computed using linear interpolation between the mark price updates immediately before and immediately after the settlement timestamp. The exact formula is in Market types. Event markets (sports results, macroeconomic data releases, central bank decisions, and similar) resolve on real-world occurrences that don’t exist as on-chain prices. Who performs the resolution depends on who deployed the market. Markets deployed by Outcome are resolved by Outcome, against the resolution source named on the market page. Validator-deployed markets are resolved by the Hyperliquid validator set: validators assess the outcome against the market’s stated resolution terms and vote on the settlement. Either way, the resolution terms, including what the market resolves on and when, are stated on the market page.

Settlement stays inside the network

Whoever performs the resolution, settlement is executed natively within Hyperliquid. Price-based markets read HyperCore’s own mark prices. Validator-deployed markets are settled by the same validator set that secures the network. There is no separate settlement layer, no dispute token, and no claims process on another chain. For the markets Outcome deploys, Outcome’s own capital backs the resolution. HIP-4 deployment requires a 500,000 HYPE stake, which validators can slash if a market is poorly defined or settled incorrectly, and which cannot be withdrawn until every outstanding market is settled. What happens to your tokens

Once resolution is determined:
  • Tokens for the resolved outcome become redeemable at 1 USDC each.
  • Tokens for any other outcome become worth 0.
Settlement happens automatically. Your USDC balance updates with the redemption proceeds (minus the settlement fee, see Fees). There’s no claim step. You don’t need to do anything; the protocol automatically redeems tokens for the resolved outcome.

What happens to open orders

If you have open orders on a market when it resolves, they’re cancelled automatically. Cancellation happens at resolution, and you’ll see the orders disappear from your active orders list. If you have a position at the time of resolution (tokens you own), those tokens are settled as described above. The open-order cancellation only affects orders that haven’t filled yet.

Settlement proceeds appear in your USDC balance after resolution is processed. You can see them in your portfolio on outcome.xyz.
